I thought I would post today about the long drawn out process that has finally led to our stickers being printed and on sale HERE.
The process began much earlier in the year - my girls had been urging me to make stickers for a number of years and I have had ages to mull over what I wanted, but it was March before we started looking at what was out there and deciding what Snapdragon stickers should be.
Firstly, and most obviously, we wanted to have high quality stickers - printed in the UK. However I also wanted to make them a proper "pocket money/slip into an envelope" type gift, so was very keen to keep the price under £2.00.
(working on the original embroideries that were then directly made into the stickers)
Like most of our products I wanted them to be easy to pack into a standard sized envelope, an extra little something to add in with a letter or card. I remember these types of "little extras" sent by my grandparents when I was little, and by my parents when I was at University, with such fondness that I love to think of Snapdragon stickers being given in the same way.
Next I did a bit of a survey amongst friends and found that while they loved stickers, they didn't like the grubby mess of paper and glue that was left when you remove them from furniture, files or fridge. We have therefore gone for a type of sticker which can be peeled off easily, even re-positioned carefully to avoid the wail of "I've put it on wrong". I love the feel of this type of sticker - they are slightly silky - though it means are stickers are not of the "I've been a good girl at the dentist" type and can't be stuck to clothes.
Finally, I have always been bothered by all the bits of sticky paper which are wasted on sheets of stickers - all the bits of white that you can't use. I realise that this is possibly a worry that is mine alone, but anyway I decided to make the sheet backgrounds patterned too. Then any similarly frugal soul can get creative with the background too.
I hope that we have managed to do all these things - they are certainly beautifully printed by JTCP in Glasgow, the fabrics are wonderfully captured
Look how amazing this velvet flower looks - you can see the fuzz and pile.
A proper pocket money price for children and adults alike. I hope you like them as much as we do.
Wow! I love, love your stickers and I can't wait to buy some! Not only for myself but for my God Daughter who will simply adore them. Well done! Great price too. XXX
