I do relatively few weddings these days - I try to restrict it to one a month. Partly this is because everything has to come from the garden - I don't buy in flowers - so it is much easier if I'm not working right up to capabilities.
Partly it is because I like to see my family - and sometimes the weekend is the only time that we get to do things together.
But mainly it is because each wedding takes up a lot of space in my head.
Next weekend I am arranging flowers for a wedding where the bride wants a very cool, clean look, mainly foliage with a few flashes of white.
For the past 6 months I have been musing over plant combinations and how to achieve an interesting look with foliage alone.
These are some of the plants I am hoping to use - briza, my favourite grass.
Allium Christophii a beautiful silver.
Amazing spiky hosta flowers
Elegant siculum - grey/green/rose bells.
And a lovely green sea holly which I am willing to grow a bit taller over the next week.
For whites there are the last of the columbines, some dames rocket, and if we are very, very lucky a sprig or two of rambling rose.
After 6 months it is beginning to feel like it might be coming together.
