Last night we went to see Mary Chapin Carpenter perform at the Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow.
Her music has been a big part of my life - providing both comfort and cheer at difficult times, and the girls have grown up with it.
Earlier this year, when we stood in the shop RE in Corbridge buying letters to put up on our wall, the choice was unanimous.
The song that this is the refrain to is one I hope my girls will live their lives by.
I had heard that Mary had been ill, and I wasn't sure what the gig would be like. I needn't have worried - she and her band are at the top of their game. 2 hours of full on, high class stomping and tender music - and they had been up since 4am catching the ferry from Ireland.
Zoe, who is a Country music obsessive, and passionate guitar player
And even better - when Mary was interviewed on Radio Scotland after her show she was talking about how she liked being able to see the audience - she mentioned our family; "Dad, Mom, young girl leaning in" and then singled out Zoe for her gorgeous smile, enthusiastic singing along and connecting.
I thought that I was going to have to scrape Zoe off the ceiling.
Thank you so much Mary. Tift Merritt was also amazing as opener.
