I usually do giveaways of my own things but this time it is different. When I heard through twitter that the Cornish textile artist Poppy Treffry had written a book I immediately put in my order. We are both machine embroiderers - admittedly one of several at each trade show - and I admire her work. I have one of Poppy's tea cosies with a St John's Ambulance on it which sits proudly in my own ambulance when I take tea there!
The book is lovely with lots of projects to do with freehand applique from egg cosies and bags to beach mats and doorstops. Best thing from my point of view is that aside from having borderline chaotic workrooms Poppy and I don't do anything the same technique wise. Always good to know!
Anyhow, although it is a lovely book, I don't like to keep many craft books about; particularly when they are in the same medium. I would hate to fall into that flickr-like trap of getting designer's-block and browsing through it.
So - I shall be posting it out to one of the commenters on this blog (doesn't have to be this post) before next Thursday.
